  • Due to the Material of this show, all actors must be above 18 years of age

  • We are seeking a diversity of ethnicities for this production and everyone is encouraged to audition.

There are a couple roles that do call for specific ethnicities:

    Gary Coleman (Black/African American)

    Christmas Eve (Japanese/Asian American)

  • Most roles in Avenue Q are traditionally either male- or female-identifying. However, many roles could be played by any gender, including trans and non-binary identifying actors. Please be sure to indicate in your registration whether you are willing to take a role in which the traditional gender identity is not the same as yours.

  • Male Baritone

Princeton is newly arrived college graduate on Avenue Q that desires more than anything to find his purpose in life. Bright eyed and optimistic, but easily swayed and has trouble committing to a path

  • Female Alto

Kate Monster is a substitute teacher with two goals driving her in life: finding love, and building a monster school so people like her feel accepted in the world.

  • Male, Baritone

Rod is a person at war with himself. He is gay, but cannot admit it to himself or anyone else, afraid of being judged for it. This persists even through others trying to open him up.

  • Male, Baritone

Nicky is Rod’s roommate, and wants to help him open up and accept his truths. Apart from this, Nicky himself tends to lack purpose and drive, often going with the flow.

  • Female, Alto

It’s Gary Coleman! Beaten down by life, Gary is mainly here to find new ways to enjoy it instead of letting the horrible things keep him down.

  • Male Baritone

Brian is 32 going on 33, and has more than a few bones to pick with life. His brand of Comedy is one which only he seems to find funny. Thankfully, he also has a loving fiancé who wants the best for him, even when she’s berating him

  • Female, Mezzo-Soprano

A Japanese immigrant, she is a brilliant mind, with perhaps her only fault being her heart beats warmly for those without clear goals and values. She does love people and her fiancé, as much as she also enjoys berating them.

She does speak with an accent.

  • Male Baritone

An odd, perverted, somewhat creepy yet also insightful monster that lives on Avenue Q. You hate to love him kind of feeling.

  • Male, Baritone

A weird bear that appears to Princeton and Kate with all sorts of terrible ideas.

This role will also understudy/swing for other male roles TBD which ones

  • Female Mezzo-Soprano

This bear also offers terrible ideas to Princeton and Kate, crying when they don’t agree to her demands.

This part will Swing/Understudy for other parts. TBD which ones.

  • Female, Alto

Her title somewhat says it all. She is a bombshell for sure, and she knows it and uses it everywhere she goes.

This part may be asked to Understudy/Swing for other parts.

  • A teacher that Kate Monster fills in for at school. Not so secretly racist against monsters.

This part will Understudy/Swing for other parts. I would preferably like to cast this as male/male identifying person for part coverage
