  • You bet! This is a totally new show, but at the same time, completely connected to its original source. In fact, as was common in actual comic strips, the closing moments of Annie are the opening moments of Annie Warbucks, starting with the last 16 bars of the great finale number “We’re Having A New Deal For Christmas”. And much as the comic strip “Little Orphan Annie” repeatedly took Annie on new adventures, so does Annie Warbucks!

Annie Warbucks boasts many of the same characters: Annie, Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks, Grace Farrell, Drake the Butler, FDR and of course, her faithful dog Sandy. But replacing Miss Hannigan and her nefarious associates Lily and Rooster are a whole new band of thugs trying to get at Warbucks’ “bucks”. We won’t tell you who they are, you have to see the show to find out! But trust us, the story is fun and exciting, and the original team who garnered 7 Tony awards for Annie, including songwriter/composer Charles Strouse (who also wrote Bye Bye Birdie and several other hit musicals), are back to provide you with a scoreful of wonderful songs.

  • We have a history of choosing quirky names for our casts when we double cast some or all of a show! Specifically, we are very proud of ALL of our actors, and we never want to put one cast “in front” of another. When we did The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with two casts, we struggled with the names. We considered Alpha and Beta, but we didn’t want to imply that the Alpha Cast was “better” (because Alpha comes before Beta in the Greek alphabet).

The solution turned out to be simple. In the song “Magic Foot”, William Barfee uses a “made-up” word to describe his technique: “It’s an alpha-betta way to spell!” And so our casts became the Alpha and the Betta cast. Voila!

For our youth casts in Annie Warbucks, we wanted to make it clear that BOTH of our youth casts are top-notch, and what better way to do that than to call one of the casts the “A” cast and the other the “1” cast. No favoritism there! They are both at the top of their respective heaps! It doesn’t matter which cast you choose to see, they are both going to give you a great show!

Even better, come SEE both casts! Use the discount code “tomorrow” and you can see two performances for 25% off each! Enjoy!
