Gangsters-turned-pastry-chefs, a seductive but bumbling Latin lothario, and a well-oiled Chaperone will have you roaring like it was still the 1920s! One of the funniest shows to hit Broadway in the past few decades, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE is a valentine to musicals of the early 1900s, taking comic aim at shows of the modern era as well as those of days gone by.
A winner of five Tony Awards (including Best Book and Best Score), this "musical within a musical" features The Man In Chair (his only name) who, cloistered in his apartment, spends his time listening to the classic shows of the Jazz Age. When he invites the audience to listen along with him to a vinyl recording of his favorite musical comedy, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE comes to glorious life on stage inside his apartment. The twists and turns and accompanying hilarity make for a delightful evening of theater.
