EVITA
Lyrics by Tim Rice
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

EVITA brings to life the rags-to-riches rise of Eva Duarte Peron, the First Lady of Argentina. Our production is set in a seedy tango bar in eary 1970s Argentina, on the 20th anniversary of Evita's death. A group of Peronist street performers assemble to pay homage to her life following her journey from poor teenager in the mid-1930s to ambitious actress to, as wife of military leader-turned-president Juan Peron, the most powerful woman in Latin America, before her death from cancer at the age of 33.

Landmark Musical Theatre's revival of the Tony Award-winning Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical, will take a fresh look at the iconic woman and her ascent to the top. The Shelton Theater's Mainstage, an intimate proscenium space with seating for just 72, will bring the audience "close-up and personal" to the drama of this story and allow us to dig deep into the characters in this masterpiece of musical theater.

The classic score features some of Webber and Rice's biggest hits, including On This Night of A Thousand Stars, High Flying Adored, Another Suitcase in Another Hall and of course, the signature song of the show, Dont Cry for Me Argentina, all performed, as always at Landmark, with live music.
