Age Restriction | The Addams Family features some adult themes. Due to the nature of the production and limitations on our ability to supervise child actors, all actors must be over 16 at the time of auditions. Those who are not yet 18 must have a parental consent form signed prior to auditions including a commitment to having a parent or other responsible adult on premises during all rehearsals and performances in order to monitor and protect the interests of underage performers. NO exceptions, please. |
Auditions | Initial auditions are being held by registration only on Sunday, August 14th or Tuesday, August 16th from 7 PM to 10 PM both days. You may book a one-hour in-person audition slot on either day or you may submit an audition video for consideration. However you plan to audition, please register by clicking here or clicking the red button below no later than Saturday, August 13th. All registrants must upload a resume (in .pdf format) and a headshot (in .jpg, .png or .pdf format). Registrants may supply a link (full URL) to a video audition (hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, a personal website, etc.) See below for details on submitting resumes, headshots and video auditions. Both video and in-person auditions should consist of: Introducing yourself and stating what song you will be singing for your audition A short song selection (32-64 bars) in the style of one of the songs from THE ADDAMS FAMILY (but not from the show) A dance audition using the steps shown in this illustrative dance videoFor in-person auditions, please bring your sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Please be familiar with the steps in the dance video although you will be given more time during the audition to go through the steps. |
Resumes | Please submit your resume as a .pdf file ONLY. Word processing files are not convertable by us so please convert to a .pdf yourself. This is typically easy to do by printing the page(s) and selecting the .pdf format from the print menu. Virtually all word processing programs today offer this option. IMPORTANT! Please include the words ADDAMS and RESUME as well as your full name in the name of your .pdf file. Example: george-smith-resume-addams.pdf |
Headshots |
Please submit your headshot as a color .jpg or .png file that is preferably 1000 pixels (height) x 800 pixels (width) although any resolution will work. If you do submit it in any other format or resolution, we will have to scale, crop and convert it as necessary and this may cause your headshot to not look as you expect it to. IMPORTANT! Please include the words ADDAMS and HEADSHOT as well as your full name in the name of your headshot file. Example: judy-owens-headshot-addams.jpg |
Audition Videos |
If you are auditioning by video submission, you must supply a link (full URL) to an audition video (hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, a personal website, etc.) This video should be no more than 2 minutes long. The video may be recorded on any camera including a cellphone. Video auditions should consist of: A "slate" introducing yourself (full name please) and stating what song you will be singing for your audition A short song selection (32-64 bars) in the style of one of the songs from THE ADDAMS FAMILY (but not from the show); you may sing a cappella if necessary, but accompaniment of some kind is preferred A dance audition using the steps shown in this illustrative dance videoIt is NOT necessary that these auditions be "professionally" recorded. We are interested in the quality of your performance, not the quality of your camera and sound equipment. |
Callbacks | Callbacks will be held on Monday, August 22nd, from 7 PM to 10 PM. Please be sure to answer the question in the registration form whether or not you are available for callbacks. If you are not available, we may still wish to consider you based solely on your audition, so please consider registering even if you are not available for callbacks. Callbacks will consist of: Script selections from the libretto of THE ADDAMS FAMILY Song selections (solo and ensemble) from the scoreScript selections for callbacks will be available in .pdf form. Song selections will be available in printable sheet music form (.pdf) as well as .mp3 audio tracks. Selections will be available on a callback resources page. When you receive your callback invitation, you will receive a link to the resources page. |
Rehearsals | Principal Rehearsals: September 7 - October 14
All rehearsals will be held at Landmark's theater. All rehearsals prior to tech week will be scheduled Sunday-Thursday (between 7 PM and 11 PM, but typically only three hours, exact times to be determined based on actor and staff conflicts). You will almost certainly NOT be called for all rehearsals (the specific schedule will be worked out after conflicts of all actors who are cast are considered), but you should expect to be available for at least 75% or more of those dates. Tech week rehearsals may be long. Typically Saturday and/or Sunday run from the afternoon through the evening and dinner is provided by Landmark. Monday through Friday of tech week can run from 6 PM through midnight (although we try hard to not run that long). Please be prepared, particularly with transportation, to have late nights during tech week. |
Conflicts | We always do our best to accommodate conflicts. Please fill out the conflicts section on the registration page as completely as possible. We can be somewhat flexible with General Rehearsal conflicts, but please understand that conflicts during Tech Week or Performances will almost certainly make it difficult to cast you in a principal role. However, please feel free to submit for a principal role even if you have some conflicts, and make sure your conflict calendar is accurate. We will consider you if at all possible. |
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion | Actors of all ethnicities, genders, abilities, body types and orientations are encouraged to register and audition, and will be considered for all roles (except for the role of Gomez Addams, which must be filled by an actor of either Latino ethnicity or an Hispanic-presenting person of color; see the character breakdown page for more details). Landmark now engages a diversity consultant at our auditions to help the directing staff make the best decisions possible regarding diversity, equity and inclusion. |
Health and Safety | The company will monitor County and City of San Francisco
health requirements, as well as CDC and State of California guidelines, and will adapt as necessary during
this time of ongoing change. Current requirements include:
|
Compensation | This production will operate under a "volunteer + expense stipend" plan. Cast members must sign a Volunteer agreement for the production period including rehearsals and performances. There are three elements of compensation: A $575 stipend for expense reimbursement which will be paid on the final day of tech week (the day before opening).Participation in an actors' bonus pool of 20% of ticket sales exceeding $50,000 (a nominal budgetary break-even point) to be split between all actors on a pro-rata basis. If any bonus is available, it will be paid on the last day of performances. * A five percent (5%) commission on all tickets sold using the actor's personal promotion code. Any commissions owed will be paid on the last day of performances. |
Actors' Equity Eligibility | We are sorry but there are no Equity contracts available for this production. As an occasional AEA contracting organization, we are prohibited from employing any AEA members in our productions which are not covered by an AEA contract. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. |
